Joe Exotic Sues Feds for $94 Million From His Oklahoma Prison

Convicted felon Joe Exotic, a.k.a. Joseph Maldonado-Passage, has filed a $94 million lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Interior and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.  Exotic is currently serving a 22-year sentence in an Oklahoma prison for a conviction on murder-for-hire and other charges, which are documented in the Tiger King Netflix documentary. The former big-cat breeder claims his incarceration is part of a conspiracy against him, and is suing for false imprisonment, malicious prosecution and discrimination.

He claims the feds were “stealing my property and promoting an animal rights agenda,” and that he was “discriminated against because he is the only person charged with this statute because [he] is an openly gay male with the largest collection of generic tigers and crossbreeds.” Exotic wants $78,840,000 for the loss of his tigers and property, and another $15 million for circumstances that led to the death of his mother Shirley. Exotic claims he plans to represent himself.
