This weekend, Jumanji 2 leapt to the top of the box office, making $60 million dollars in its opening weekend. The film, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan, had the strongest ever December debut for Sony.

After three weeks of box office domination, the Disney film Frozen II tumbled precipitously to number two, with only $19.2 million in sales. The mystery Knives Out landed at number three this week, with $9.25 million in ticket sales. At number four was Richard Jewell, a film about the man wrongly accused of the Centennial Olympics Park bombing in 1996, which opened this weekend with $5 million in sales. Rounding out the top five was the horror film Black Christmas, with $4.4 million in sales.
