Spring Arrives Thursday, the Earliest Spring Equinox in 124 years

Spring arrives on Thursday, and according to the Washington Post, it’s the earliest the new season has debuted in 124 years. Usually, the spring vernal equinox happens between March 20 and 22, but this year it arrives just a few minutes early if you’re on the east coast: on March 19, at 11:49 p.m. ET.

The early arrival is fitting, as the country has been enjoying spring-like weather, as trees began leafing up to three to four weeks ago in many parts of the south and east, according to the USA National Phenology Network.
