On April 23,2005–exactly 15 years ago today–the very first YouTube video appeared on the now-ubiquitous platform. As CNN recounts, the 18-second clip was posted by YouTube co-founder Jawed Karim and featured some pretty mundane footage of him hanging out at a zoo. “So here we are in front of the elephants,” he said to the camera. “The cool thing about these guys is that they have really, really, really long, um, trunks. And that’s–that’s cool.” Since then, “Me at the Zoo” has garnered nearly 100 million views.

Interestingly, it’s the only video Karim ever posted on his page.
