“Trolls World Tour” Breaks All-Time Digital Sales Record

The animated Trolls World Tour became the biggest digital movie release in history over the weekend, says Universal Pictures, who did not provide specific numbers. The AP reports that the film was the first to debut on digital platforms on the same date as its theatrical release date, as it played in 21 drive-in theaters over the weekend that have remained open.

The movie featured voices of Justin Timberlake, Anna Kendrick, and was #1 on all of the major on-demand streaming platforms, including Amazon, Apple, and Comcast. FandangoNow, said it help power their best-ever weekend, and was also the most preordered film ever.
