Would You Live In A Van Down By The River?
A full third of Americans say they wouldn’t actually mind “livin’ in a van down by the river”, as Matt Foley once said.
30,000 people were asked, “Would you ever consider van life?” They defined it as “a lifestyle that involves living and traveling in a converted van.”
36% of Americans said yes, including 13% who actively WANT to do that. 52% said no, and 9% aren’t sure. Almost HALF of people under 30 like the idea.
The same poll also found 44% of us wouldn’t mind living in a “tiny house” with less than 500 square feet of space.
Honestly? Yeah, I’m one of those who have given it some thought. I don’t need a lot of space. I live very minimally. It’d be great that the rent wouldn’t be nearly as much; but the biggest dealbreaker is not having a full bathroom readily available to me at all times (and especially late at night). Also, I’m pretty sure I’d get kicked out of City Dock Park on the very first night.
(And if you need a refresher, here’s the classic Matt Foley “SNL” skit.)
